This letter confirms receipt of six filing fee checks from the clerk’s office via certified mail on March 3, 2026. It clarifies that OCRC secretary’s signature on the receipt was solely for postal delivery and does not constitute acceptance of any filing fee or validation of candidacy.
The letter reiterates RsMO 115.357: Candidates “shall pay” filing fees to the committee treasurer; but candidates “may submit” filing fees to the clerk who must promptly forward fees. Forwarding does not mean acceptance by the committee or nominations granted. None of the candidates in this batch who submitted their checks to the clerk have completed OCRC’s nomination process, which includes vetting. All checks submitted are being held for 7 days (until March 9) pending vetting completion; if not completed, checks will be returned by certified mail on March 10.
Note: During OCRC’s February 24, 2026 visit, the committee requested updates on any additional Republican filers and the clerk seemed to ‘nod’ that she would provide updates. However, the only way OCRC learned of Amanda Grellner and Denise Nolte filings (who appeared to file on February 26th and 27th, respectively) was from their checks being in the envelope mailed by the clerk’s office on March 2nd — no official notice, cover letter, or notation from the clerk.
